Indonesian Ministry of Transportation temporarily grounds all Boeing MD-90 aircraft operated by Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air). All Lion Air's Boeing MD-90 aircrafts are temporarily being prohibited to serve commercial flights. Those airplanes will be reviewed by the Ministry of Transportation.
"Inspection will be done during the three-four days," said General Director of Air Transportation - Ministry of Transportation, Herry Bakti S Gumay in Jakarta, Tuesday (March 10, 2009).
This grounding is associated with an accident of an MD-90 aircraft with flight number 937 at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Monday. Two weeks earlier, other MD-90 also failed landed at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam. In addition, the General Director said, the pilot operating the unlucky aircraft will also be grounded for a month.
