Telkomsel to start selling iPhone 3G in Indonesia

Telkomsel will soon sell the iPhone 3G package starts 20 March. The iPhone 3G sale launch will be conducted in the South Pacific Place Jakarta, Indonesia. Sales will be conducted during the first 3 days on the same place, and on 23rd March, the Telkomsel iPhone 3G will be available at Telkomsel's outlet (Grapari) as well as Telkomsel's partners including PT Trikomsel Oke (Oke Shop), PT Cipta Multi Usaha Perkasa (Global Teleshop), PT Simpatindo Multimedia (Sarindo), dan PT Telesindo Shop (Telesindo Shop).

Telkomsel offers the iPhone 3G in bundled with prepaid or postpaid plans/packages. The price of the phone depends on the packages and phone specification. The cheapest price is at IDR 2,622,000 and the most expensive is IDR 11,205,000.

Indonesia grounds Boeing MD-90 aircraft

Indonesian Ministry of Transportation temporarily grounds all Boeing MD-90 aircraft operated by Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air). All Lion Air's Boeing MD-90 aircrafts are temporarily being prohibited to serve commercial flights. Those airplanes will be reviewed by the Ministry of Transportation.

"Inspection will be done during the three-four days," said General Director of Air Transportation - Ministry of Transportation, Herry Bakti S Gumay in Jakarta, Tuesday (March 10, 2009).

This grounding is associated with an accident of an MD-90 aircraft with flight number 937 at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Monday. Two weeks earlier, other MD-90 also failed landed at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam. In addition, the General Director said, the pilot operating the unlucky aircraft will also be grounded for a month.

Lion Air Emergency Landing without Front Gear

A Lion Air passenger aircraft MD-90 (now Boeing MD-90) on 23rd Feb 2009 landed at Batam airport without its front landing gear extended. The emergency landing resulting in damage to the undercarriage and the airport having to be closed.

The Aircraft with flight number JT-972 was carrying 162 passengers when made an emergency landing at Hang Ngadim Airport in Batam, Riau, Indonesia. No one on board was injured during and after the emergency landing.

The Lion Air operates some MD-90 and older MD series aircrafts, but start phasing them out and replace them with the newly purchased Boeing 737-900ER.

Jusuf Kalla says ready to run for president

Vide President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla said that he is ready to be nominated for the Next Indonesian President (2009-2014).

Kalla is now the Chairperson of Functional Group (Golkar) Party, the winner of previous Parliament election in 2004. Kalla said he is ready if his party, Golkar provides support for him.
